Richard & Sarah (Roberts) Rich*


7516.  Richard Rich, died in October 1692.  He married in 1671,

7517.  Sarah Roberts, who died before October 1692.

Richard & Sarah were the parents of six children:

i.  THOMAS RICH  (3758)

ii.  DEA. JOHN RICH, died before 11 November 1747 in Eastham (Barnstable) Massachusetts.  He married (as his first wife) 10 December 1700 in Eastham, Mary Treat, who was born 16 March 1681/82, daughter of Samuel Treat.  John & Mary were the parents of eight children:  (a) Mary Rich, married James Cahoon, three children, James, Moses and Elizabeth;  (b) Robert Rich, married Lydia Collins, nine children, Hannah, Mary, Moses, Robert, John, John, Joshua, Nehemiah and Reuben;  (c) John Rich, married Thankful Sears, seven children, Samuel, Richard, John, Thankful, Hannah, Hope and Betsy/Betty;  (d) Reuben Rich(e) Joshua Rich, married Hannah Bacon;  (f) Moses Rich(g) Reuben Rich, married first, Martha Smith, four daughters, Thankful, Martha, Mary and Abigail; Reuben married second, Ruth Brown, five children, Aaron, Reuben, Ruth, Elisha and Isaac;  and (h) Thankful Rich, married John Harding.  John married (as his second wife and as her second husband) 2 August 1723, Hope (Howes) Sears.  John & Hope were the parents of a daughter:  (i) Hope Rich, married Col. Elisha Doane, five children, Thankful, Elisha, Hannah, Isaiah and Hope.

iii.  LYDIA RICH, probably died in Harwich (Barnstable) Massachusetts after 6 June 749.  She married Samuel Hopkins, who was born in March 1681/82 in Eastham, and died between 6 June and 7 July 1749 in Harwich, son of Stephen and Mary (Merrick) Hopkins.  Lydia & Samuel were the parents of eleven children:  (a) Richard Hopkins, married Ruth Gage, three children, Elkanah, Lamuell and Ginne;  (b) Reliance Hopkins(c) Moses Hopkins(d) Lydia Hopkins, married Joshua Crosby, ten children, John, Josiah, Lydia, Nathan, Reuben, Joshua, Theoda, Elijah, Hannah and Samuel;  (e) Reliance Hopkins, married David Crosby, eight children, David, Susanna, Reliance, Abner, Sarah, Eli, Moses and Huldah;  (f) Sarah Hopkins, married Abner Bangs;  (g) Susanna Hopkins(h) Moses Hopkins, married Hannah Berry, ten children, Huldah, Moses, Lydia, Rebecca, Edward, Samuel, Zoheth, Hannah, Reliance and Zoheth;  (i) Theodorus/Theodosius Hopkins, married first, Hannah Hurd, nine children, Benjamin, Charles, Rebecca, Richard, Theodore, Phebe, Hannah, Lucy and Josiah; Theodorus married second, Lydia (—);  (j) Nathan Hopkins;  and (k) Huldah Hopkins.

iv.  SARAH RICH.  She married 28 February 1701/02 in Eastham, Isaac Baker.  Sarah & Isaac were the parents of six children:  (a) Simeon Baker(b) Samuel Baker(c) Joseph Baker(d) Isaac Baker, married Lydia Hopkins;  (e) Richard Baker, married Elizabeth Wetheral, a son, David;  and (f) Sarah Baker, married (—) Sweet.

v.  RICHARD RICH, probably born in 1674 in Dover Point (Strafford) New Hampshire, died 5 May 1743 in Truro (Barnstable) Massachusetts.  He married Anne (—), who was born about 1675 and died 11 May 1753.  Richard & Anne were the parents of nine children:  (a) Sarah Rich, married first, Thomas Thatcher, two daughters, Elizabeth and Jane; Sarah married second, David Doane;  (b) Richard Rich, married Hannah Doane, eight children, Josiah, Uriah, Matthias, Hannah, Obadiah, Margaret “Peggy”, Huldah and Richard;  (c) Rebecca Rich, married Joshua Brown, three children, Joshua, Knowles and Thankful;  (d) Zaccheus Rich, married first, Ruth Collins, nine children, Ann, Sarah, Zaccheus, Jesse, Benjamin, Thatcher, Richard, Ruth and Ephraim; Zaccheus married second, Abigail Harding, two children, Elisha and Priscilla;  (e) Obadiah Rich, married first, Mary Crowell, eight children, Jonathan, Deborah, Josiah, Rebecca, Ruth, Obadiah, Isaac and David; Obadiah married second, Ruth Dyer, three children, Mary, Nathaniel and Obadiah;  (f) Priscilla Rich(g) Huldah Rich, married Jonathan Harding, six children, Hannah, Priscilla, Benjamin, Huldah, Martha and Jonathan;  (h) Joseph Rich, married Susanna Collins, nine children, Susanna, Jonathan, Richard, James, Anne, Sylvanus, Elizabeth, Deborah and Joseph;  and (i) Sylvanus Rich, married Mary Lombard/Lumbart, two children, Isaiah and Huldah.

vi.  SAMUEL RICH, probably born about 1685 in Eastham, died 7 May 1752 in Truro.  He married (as his first wife) Elizabeth (—), who was born about 1686 and died 16 April 1725 in Truro.  Samuel & Elizabeth were the parents of nine children:  (a) Hannah Rich, married James Cobb, ten children, James, Elizabeth, Lois, Isaac, Ezekiel, Hannah, Dinah, Deliverance, Mary and Sabra;  (b) Samuel Rich(c) Lemuel Rich, married Elizabeth Harding, thirteen children, Barnabas, Lemuel, Elizabeth, Ezekiel, Samuel, Deliverance, Martha, Zephaniah, James, Mary, Joel, Sarah and Amos;  (d) Elizabeth Rich, married Israel Gross, seven children, Elizabeth, Joazaniah, Joseph, Mary, Samuel, Sarah and Deliverance “Dille”;  (e) Sarah Rich, married Samuel Treat, eight children, Ann, Ezekiel, Mary, Nathaniel, Samuel, Sarah, William and Mulford;  (f) Jerusha Rich, married first, Hugh Paine, four children, Bette, Hugh, Samuel and Thankful; Jerusha married second, Solomon Hinckley, two daughters, Jerusha and Lydia;  (g) Deliverance Rich, married Jonathan Collins, four children, Hannah, John, Deliverance and Lois;  (h) Dinah Rich, married George Lewis, eight children, Elizabeth, Sarah, John, Hannah, Mary, Nathaniel, Priscilla and Apphia;  and (i) Mary Rich, married Elkanah Paine, seven children, Elisha, Elkanah, Samuel, Joshua, Sarah, Lemuel and Henry.  Samuel married (as his second wife) 9 January 1725/26 in Truro, Bethia Arey, who was born there 15 April 1708 and died 5 January 1782, daughter of Richard and Lydia (—) Arey.  Samuel & Bethia were the parents of twelve children:  (j) Ezekiel Rich(k) Ebenezer Rich, married Ruth Paine, ten children, Ebenezer, Barnabas, Ezekiel, Mercy, Samuel, Ruth, Rachel, Joab, Sarah and Caleb;  (l) Lydia Rich(m) Ruth Rich, married first, Silvanus/Sylvanus Collins, two daughters, Sarah and Ruth; Ruth married second, Benjamin Atkins, six children, Elizabeth, Bethiah, Hannah, Jonah, Anna and Sarah;  (n) Priscilla Rich, married first, Obadiah Rich; Priscilla married second, Benjamin Lewis, five children, Abraham, Achsah, Benjamin, Lucy and Priscilla;  (o) Bethiah Rich, married Nicholas Sparks, nine children, Nicholas, James, James, Bethia, Samuel, Elizabeth, Ruhama, Samuel and Priscilla;  (p) Aquila Rich, married Ruth Avery, two children, Aquila and Bethia;  (q) Lydia Rich(r) Samuel Rich(s) Rachel Rich, married first, Jonah Stevens; Rachel married second, Capt. Gamaliel Collins, nine children, Jonah Stevens, Rachel, Jerusha, Gamaliel, Ebenezer, Jerusha, Priscilla, Aquila and James;  (t) Apollos Rich, married Abigail Collins, eight children, Andrew, Hannah, Apollos, Elkenah, Margery, Jerusha, Abigail and Apphia;  and (u) John Rich, married Mercy Chipman, seven children, Martha, Bethia, John, Sabra, William, Samuel and William.
